Welcome to Weekend #3! Everything you need for Friday, April 18th.
Late night cards for two
faint and far away a hoot
great horned owl - no. Two.
Kit Kat by Julia (8 years old)
Kit Kat is candy
it is sweet, crunchy, and brown
It tastes very sweet
The Bird by Lana (10 years old)
In the green, green trees
A little head peeps out there
Oh! It is a bird
Lana, I love the surprise of your last line!
The girls are always delighted when I read your comments to them. Thank you, Lorrie!
Not as much as I am delighted in reading their poems and yours. ♥️
Julia, the sounds of the words Kit Kat together are delicious themselves!
Driving to My Parent’s House
freeway billboards flash
stories inside every card
the miles seem long
The second line is supposed to be stories inside every car--whoops!
By eight year old Ellie:
Title: Beachtime
When people see waves,
they run, run, run fast to the beach,
to feel the sun’s warmth
My family is together and we’re driving to my parent’s house. I read this one aloud to everyone in the car. My niece loves the beach! 🏖️ we loved it.
Aww how cute. I love it when the wee ones write.
So true Ceili.
Upon an ancient grave* a baby plays.
Dark walls of earth
Holds memories
Forgotten by many
Lived centuries before
I think I need to work on this one a bit. Does anyone have any suggestions?
What’s your gut telling you, Ceili? Have you read this aloud to yourself?
Reading aloud helps me so much! I often hear what I need to change or at least a spot that might need work even if I don’t know what to do. I forget to read my writing aloud a lot still! I also have to learn to trust my gut!
Thanks for the suggestion just edited it.
