blue jay’s gaze intent
ceanothus blooms purple
commands attention
I’m not a baker
looked pretty but tasted bad
threw her in the trash
writing amongst bees
so determined in their work
beauty that buzzes
Before Holly’s Funeral
painting my nails
in the quiet waiting time
reading, watching birds
four fierce mastiffs guard
goats crunch, munch, baaaaaaaaaaa, soon settle
quiet in moonlight
Full Moon Haiku
cradled by a cloud
moving alone in night’s sky
together for now
it’s been a weekend
beyond my capacity
toes need sand and sun
couch blanket
qentle invitation
asleep in five
Easter
empty tomb distracts
forgot to count syllables
-haiku gone missing
When I string them together, my haiku feel different. Almost like a quiet story of the last few weeks. Thanks to Tavia from How the Light Gets Through for the idea! You can read the story of her Poetry Pie Challenge haiku here.
Until next year’s challenge, I’ll leave you with this parting haiku.
poems in one breath
joy found in haiku moments
it’s a three-line life
I do love reading them all together!
Thank you for this and for the wonderful challenge! I look forward to it every year. Hope we can keep up with each other between now and next year.
